Clarinets

Clarinets are part of the woodwind family of instruments and can normally be played by all ages. The clarinet used to be mainly played in classical orchestras, but today is found in many musical styles such as also in jazz and klezmer. The clarinet is sorted by two very different systems and related control methods: The German system and the Boehm system. The Boehm was introduced around 1832, however, the German instrument makers, were not willing to take on this new system and continued to build their clarinets with German system. Boehm emigrated to France and was able to convince the renowned instrument maker Buffet and Klosé of his new system. The French exported their instruments all over the world making the Boehm system known worldwide.
