Jackson MJ

The MJ in the name of the MJ series doesn’t stand for Michael Jackson or Michael Jordan but for Made in Japan. These guitars are made there by highly qualified and talented luthiers using the best materials. That places the guitars of the MJ series in the Jackson pecking order just below the guitars from the USA Custom Shop.

In the MJ series, as in the USA Custom Shop, you’ll find hand-crafted guitars of popular Jackson models like the Rhoads, Dinky and Soloist. All instruments in the MJ series are fitted with an ebony fretboard with a 12"-16" compound radius. The Rhoads guitars additionally get a high-gloss black finish with chrome hardware over an alder body and a 3-piece maple neck with neck-through construction. Two Seymour Duncan humbuckers are used: a JB-SH- in the bridge position and a Jazz SH-2N in the neck position.

The selection among the Dinky models is considerably broader. No fewer than 4 new models in a total of 6 finishes are available. From Ice Blue Metallic with an alder body and 5-piece neck plus DiMarzio pickups, or Matte Black Ash on a mahogany body with an ash top and Seymour Duncan pickups, to Transparent Blue Burst on a mahogany body with a poplar burl top and DiMarzio pickups. That certainly makes the decision a tough one.

Finally there are the Soloist guitars, available in both high-gloss black and matte white finish options, both equipped with pickups from Seymour Duncan.
