Rick Payne is an acoustic blues guitarist par excellence. His performances have taken him to prime time TV, to festivals and theatres throughout the UK and on tour to Europe and the USA. Rick has provided music for a number of major BBC TV and radio productions. He has featured on BBC Radio with Nigel Kennedy and even played the blues at a classical music festival, on stage after the English Symphony Orchestra.
Rick Payne has become especially well known for his authentic acoustic blues fingerpicking, playing in the many traditional styles of the blues including Delta Blues, Piedmont, Ragtime and Slide. As a teacher and an inspirer, he possesses an unsurpassed ability to break down the various forms and elements of Fingerstyle Blues and communicate them effectively to anyone willing to learn. Rick passes his skills on to around 150 students a week at schools and at numerous workshops. He is also kept busy as senior course writer with Steve Elliott at the Acoustic Guitar Workshop

Rick Payne´s Fingerstyle Blues" is a concise introduction to the art of Fingerstyle Blues. Graduated exercises, in order of difficulty, give you a thorough grounding in the vital skill of thumb and finger independence. You´ll develop your ability to improvise by looking at blues scales. You´ll pick up specific playing techniques such as dampened bass, walking bass, pick and strum and alternating bass. And, of course, you´ll apply this knowledge by playing real blues tunes, including some challenging and fun to play Ragtime. If you want enlightenment on the subject, this book puts Fingerstyle Blues firmly in the spotlight and reveals the power and charm of this beguiling style.
