Product information "Tone King Imperial preamp"
Tone King has managed to pack the legendary sound of Imperial amps into a compact floor preamp. There are two channels available: the Rhythm Channel for classic "Black Face" sounds, clean to slightly distorted, and the Lead Channel in the best "Tweed Era" tradition—from classic clean sound to Tweed-style overdrive to British crunch. The effects section consists of a stereo reverb and stereo tremolo (both digital). The unique dynamics are achieved with a "zero watt" power amp with phase inverter. Also on board is an IR loader with 15 IRs created by the renowned IR company OwnHammer. Three IRs can be activated directly per channel via a switch. The amp features a switchable effects loop and a MIDI interface—128 presets can be recalled via MIDI. The IR section can be deactivated for use in front of an amp. The free Tone King Editor software can be used to edit the preamp and transfer alternative IRs.

Tone King from Baltimore, USA, is a manufacturer of vintage valve amplifiers founded in 1993 by Mark Bartel. Among the most popular are the heads and combos from the Imperial and Gremlin series. In addition to the high-quality amplifiers, Tone King is particularly known for the much-praised Ironman Attenuator, which preserves the amplifier's tonal character very faithfully even at low power.
