The Tascam FR-AV2 is a compact, fully featured audio recorder for filmmakers that combines state-of-the-art 32-bit float technology with timecode generation and synchronisation. It not only delivers a significantly improved listening experience, it also simplifies the entire workflow from recording to editing. Synchronise the recorder with industry-standard video equipment without needing an external timecode device.
Recordings without clipping
Thanks to the advanced 32-bit float recording of the FR-AV2 at up to 192 kHz you’ll never have to discard a take because of distortion or too-low levels. When recording with lower bit depths, i.e. 24-bit and 16-bit, loud sources can cause digital clipping that cannot be corrected later.
The use of dual analogue/digital converters enables recordings with greater dynamic range and increased transparency – so you can raise the level of dialogue scenes without degrading tone or dynamics.
Premium XLR/TRS combo inputs
Connect microphones and line-level sources directly to the FR-AV2’s two Ultra-HDDA preamps. With an extremely low equivalent input noise of just –127 dBu you can capture audio with maximum clarity and virtually no noise.
You also have the option to use wireless mic receivers, lavalier mics and any other audio sources you have via the stereo mini-jack input.
Ultimate timecode generation
With the FR-AV2 you can reduce the amount of camera gear you carry to shoots. The recorder sends and receives timecode via its mini-jack connectors for DSLR cameras and also supports jam-sync for external timecode devices.
With the optional AK-BT2 Bluetooth adapter the timecode can also be synchronised wirelessly with supported UltraSync Blue devices from Atomos.
Bluetooth monitoring
The optional AK-BT2 Bluetooth adapter lets you monitor audio wirelessly during a shoot. Choose from three quality levels to ensure you get the best possible signal depending on the recording environment, including connection and audio quality.
Wired and Bluetooth monitoring work in parallel, so two people can always listen at the same time.
