The 5th generation of the Digitech mega-seller Whammy pedal. This legendary floor effect can be heard on countless CD productions and is part of the "fleet" of many well-known guitarists. The Whammy 5 is the latest version, which has been enhanced with some new features - now chords can also be shifted in pitch so that you can create convincing slide guitar sounds. The Detune programmes shift the pitch slightly in relation to the original signal, resulting in a very broad, chorus-like sound. With the classic Whammy presets you can create the typical pitch bend sounds familiar from Tom Morello. The individual programmes of the effects unit can be switched via MIDI.

Fifty years ago the market for effect pedals wasn't as large as it is today. Instead of a multitude of pedal makers on the internet, you had to visit your local guitar shop and choose from two or three brands they stocked. DOD was almost always one of them.

Ich habe über so viele Jahre einen Whammy-Effekt mit anderen Geräten gemacht und war nie so wirklich glücklich mit dem Sound und der Latenz, so daß ich jetzt endlich mal Platz auf meinem Pedalboard für das Original geschaffen habe. Es hat sich gelohnt! Der Sound (gerade in der Einstellung "Chord") wird kaum hörbar verfälscht und die Latenz ist ebenfalls nur noch minimal. Das Pedal ist sehr gut verarbeitet. Was ich allerdings nicht verstehe ist, warum bei all den Intervallen die einstellbar sind, ausgerechnet eine Terz fehlt!? Wer mal "Tears of my own shame" von Steve Lukathers solo Album "Luke" gehört hat, weiß wie musikalisch eine Terz mit dem Whammy in Lead Lines oder Solos einzubetten ist - das hat mich überhaupt erst auf das Whammy Pedal gebracht! Wenn man das Pedal auf die Quarte einstellt bekommt man mit etwas Übung auch eine Terz damit ganz gut hin - was mich zum nächsten Kritikpunkt führt - das Pedal ändert nur bis zum letzten Viertel des Weges etwas! Außerdem wäre es schön gewesen, wenn man irgendeine Möglichkeit hätte, das Pedal mit diesen kleinen "Mounty"- Blechen am Pedalboard zu fixieren, aber unter dem Effekt ist keine Möglichkeit dafür, da es von oben verschraubt wird. Ich habe das Ding auseinander gebaut und unten Löcher 'reingebohrt um solche Mountys mit Blechschrauben am Gehäuse anzubringen - dafür aber vorher unbedingt ein passendes YouTube-Video anschauen, damit man das Pedal heil auseinander bekommt! Insgesamt trotzdem alternativlos!
