Product information "Schlagwerk CAP 200 Cajon pedal with baseplate"
The CAP200 is not just an updated version of the well-known original design, but a completely new pedal. Schlagwerk is sticking with a remote cable design because the setup flexibility is far superior to any other pedal design. Nevertheless, Schlagwerk has changed a few things that have helped the company pioneer the Cajon pedal over the past decade:
Double Cam construction - patented
This type of construction converts the pedal movement into a rotation of the pedal shaft. The Bowden cable transmits this rotation directly to the beater shaft, so that the playing feel is very direct and comparable to the playing feel of standard bass drum pedals.
Cable coating
The steel cable used in the Bowden cable is coated with Teflon for extremely smooth running. Due to the bending, friction of the wire in the cable is unavoidable. This is one of the disadvantages of cable-bound pedals. However, the Schlagwerk cable is coated with Teflon. Teflon or polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) has the third lowest coefficient of friction of all known materials on this planet. It is the only known surface that a gecko cannot stick to. Geckos may not matter in this context, but friction does. With this move, the manufacturer achieves an incredibly direct response without noticeable latency.
Flat design
Many wired pedals have the problem that the cable becomes a tripwire on stage or in the rehearsal room, as most designs use pedal frames from BD or HH Pedals. The CAP 200 has been developed from scratch. This gave Schlagwerk the chance to avoid all the problems they have accumulated in 10 years of experience with cable pedals. The company did not rely on existing standard parts, but simply designed new ones. So the cable lies flat on the floor. No more tripping! Full concentration on the music.
Longboard
The CAP 200 pedal board was designed as a longboard. This clever design rearranges the various angles and pivot points to increase the force on the beater through the leverage ratio. As a result, a greater dynamic range is possible with less strain on the foot and ankle.
Impact point
Every Cajon has a sweet spot for the maximum bass amplitude. As a rule, this point is around 2/3 of the distance to the floor. The CAP200 bundle includes the tried-and-tested Cajon base plate to which the pedal is attached. It lifts the Cajon and tilts it slightly, at the same time decoupling the pedal from it. Many other pedals are firmly attached to the Cajon, so the free movement and tilting of the Cajon does not work, which is so important for comfortable playing. Schlagwerk has designed the pedal in such a way that it hits a normal Cajon exactly at the sweet spot for the best sound. No matter which Cajon.
Bag with protective insert
Some competitors only sell the pedal itself in order to achieve a lower market price. This poses the problem of the cable being kinked and damaged during transport or storage. For this reason, Schlagwerk pedals are only supplied with a bag and a customised inlay. The CAP200 is delivered in a single brown shipping box. No plastic is used in the packaging.
