The Sigo Tenor Recorder Black by Kunath represents a new approach to recorder making: a warmer, deeper sound combined with child-friendly ergonomics and modern manufacturing technology.
Rather than the classic soprano character, the Sigo sounds an octave lower. The result is a full, calm tone that is less shrill and perceived as significantly more pleasant – ideal for teaching, ensemble playing and soloists who prefer a balanced sound.
Thoughtful design for small hands
Despite its tenor range, the Sigo is comfortable to play:
The S-shaped arrangement of finger holes on the front achieves hole spacings equivalent to those of a soprano recorder. This means the instrument can be played securely and comfortably even by small hands.
The angled mouthpiece also ensures a natural playing posture.
Innovative internal construction
Inside, the Sigo also follows a special concept:
A curved bore is largely responsible for the deep, warm sound. This construction is new in recorder making and enables the tenor register in a compact design.
Modern production from sustainable materials
The Sigo Tenor Recorder is not turned from wood but manufactured using 3D printing. The material used is Resona, made from shredded wood chips and modified plant starch — based on renewable raw materials. This process allows for precise, reproducible quality and resource-saving production.

The Sigo tenor recorder is a modern recorder, far removed from "copy & paste" to "create"!
While most recorder models today are based on the ideas of historical instrument makers such as Rottenburgh, Denner, Kynseker, Bressan and others, the Sigo goes its own way. This handy tenor recorder was developed in collaboration between Kunath Instrumentenbau and Geri Bollinger, one of Europe's leading recorder makers.
It is ideal for beginners in particular, but also for advanced players thanks to the almost identical grip width as a soprano recorder. The angled headjoint and the thumb rest integrated into the mould make the Sigo particularly ergonomic. But the highlight of this flute is the folded Sigo scale. Although the instrument is shorter than a normal tenor flute, it sounds just as deep!
The body and head are made from RESONA, a material specially developed by Kunath Instrumentenbau from renewable raw materials.
The matt surface of the lower joint and the thumb rest integrated into the mould make the instrument exceptionally comfortable to play.

Sichere Tonansprache, leicht zu greifen, für das Ensemblespiel geeignet, aber nicht als Soloinstrument. Aussehen - eckige Flöte nicht sehr ansehnlich, bzw. gewöhnungsbedürftig.

Gefaltete Tenor-Blockflöte: Viel kleiner als eine Übliche. Tönt für mein Ohr ausgezeichnet.
