The legendary "Green Russian" Muff is also a real find amongst bass players, but the old original from the 90s has become a real collector's item - rare and very expensive. Electro Harmonix have the remedy, the Deluxe Bass Big Muff PI. This pedal is based on the "Green Russian", but Electro Harmonix has donated this variant some very useful additional features for bassists. The input sensitivity can be switched, so that even active bass can be adjusted easily. Another new feature is an effective noise gate, which combats noise effectively. Distortion and direct signal can be mixed - a footswitchable crossover circuit with Hi and LOPASS filter provides an additional Soundvariation.
A versatile Bass Distortion / Fuzz pedal, which has found a place in the effect boards of Tony Levin and Bootsy Collins.

Kauf erfolgte nach Empfehlung unseres Mischers, um damit den Bass-Sound des kommenden Albums nachzubilden. Die große Stärke der Deluxe-Version besteht in der Zuschaltung der Filterbank (HPF, LPF). Zusammen mit einer wohljustierten Blende erhielt ich den Klang, den ich bisher immer vermisst habe (starke Verzerrung in den Höhen, bombastisches Low-End). Packt man noch einen SF300 dahinter, kann man das Ergebnis nur noch als infernal bezeichnen. Dieser Effekt ist klar geeignet für Metalbands und nix für die Top40-Kapelle auf'm Schützenfest.
I'm not big into pedals, but as I'm sliding into sludge and doom-metal, I felt I needed some dirt. To be honest, it wast the awesome graphics which drew me to this one, then the xlr out and hi/lo-pass filters are great. And of course that big muff fuzz :D
Nach diversen Versuchen habe ich mit diesem Gerät endlich das gefunden, was ich schon länger gesucht habe: Es liefert einen überzeugenden satten Sound mit reichlich Variationsmöglichkeiten in einem stabilen und gut verarbeiteten Gehäuse und durchdachten Einstellmöglichkeiten. Absolute Empfehlung!
