Gibson Les Paul 1960 Custom Shop
The word Reissue almost says it all about the Les Paul 1960 Custom Shop. These are reissues of the popular 1960 models. The guitars are built to the exact specifications of that era and thus bring the feel of back then into the present day. As the name suggests, these guitars are Custom Shop instruments and therefore meet Gibson's highest standards.
In construction Gibson uses a lightweight mahogany body with a two-piece maple top. The neck is made from solid mahogany with the period-typical Slim Taper profile. The neck and the rosewood fretboard are, as with the originals, glued with hide glue. Gibson's pursuit of maximum authenticity in material selection is not limited to the wood but is also reflected in the plastic parts.
The guitar's electronics consist of two Custombucker Alnico III (unpotted) humbuckers. As you would expect from Les Pauls, the pickups are selected and adjusted via a 3-way switch and four controls.
For those of you looking for a guitar that also looks and plays as if it really came from 1960, there are the guitars from the Gibson Murphy Lab.
