The Trickfish Signal Filter is an intelligent sound-shaping tool that offers variable high-pass and low-pass filters to perfectly dose highs and lows when you need a slightly narrower or less hi-fi sound.
Unlike traditional EQ, which boosts and cuts at a fixed frequency with sloping curves on either side, the signal filter uses two independently selectable filters that provide a steep cut at 24 dB per octave in the bass range starting at 38 Hz and going down to 310 Hz and in the treble range from 330 Hz down to 15 kHz. This allows highs and/or lows to be attenuated while the remaining internal frequencies are fully preserved. Take the example of liking the sound of your bass but finding the bass too boomy on stage? No problem, just adjust the high pass until your sound is tighter but still full and powerful. Perhaps your bass sounds great but is a bit bright or "clangy" at the top? Just back off the low-pass until it sounds sufficiently warmed up but retains the right amount of punch and articulation. An additional gain control on the high-pass channel ensures that the perceived loss of volume from cutting the low-end can be added back in. Ta-da!
