A new series to honour Taylor's history
We are pleased to present the new Taylor Legacy Collection with five acoustic models that honour Taylor's long company history. Three of them are redesigned rosewood/spruce models from the iconic 800 Series, which trace back to some of Bob Taylor's earliest guitars. The other two place Bob's flagship, the Grand Auditorium body, at the centre, the shape that defined the modern Taylor sound. These two models are based on guitars from the 500 and 700 Series. Inspired by Bob's original models, these retro designs reflect the full breadth of Taylor Guitars' history by combining fundamental design elements with the key developments that led there.
Key features of the Legacy 855e
Longtime Taylor players and fans will be inspired by the Legacy 855e. The 12-string acoustic-electric guitar is a tribute to the extremely playable 12-strings that Taylor became known for in its early days. With this model the classic jumbo body shape returns to the Taylor line, and its large body suits the typical voice of a 12-string perfectly. With solid Indian rosewood back and sides and a Sitka spruce top supported by traditional X-bracing, the Legacy 855e delivers a clear, balanced tone with warm lows and crystal-clear highs. The large body provides exceptional power without sacrificing responsiveness to picking and offers a wide dynamic range that reacts to every stroke while playing. This model features a modern, easy-playing Taylor neck profile. It also includes classic touches such as the straight headstock with rosewood veneer and the stylish mustache bridge.
The appointments also reflect the unadorned aesthetic of Bob's early instruments: white binding, a three-ring rosette of green abalone shell, a tortoiseshell-style pickguard and a gloss finish on the body and neck.
The Taylor Legacy 855e features LR Baggs Element VTC electronics with controls at the soundhole and a Legacy interior label. It ships with a deluxe hardshell case.
