The company C.F. Martin & Co., or simply Martin Guitars, can look back on a long company tradition and several innovative inventions. Innovations introduced by Martin that became standard in guitar making also include guitars with 14 frets clear of the body as well as X‑bracing. This allows greater stability and load-bearing capacity of the top (soundboard) thanks to strips glued to the inside of the top. The name of the US company Martin Guitars, actually C.F. Martin & Co., Inc., has stood for the highest quality and innovation in the construction of stringed instruments since 1833. Among the company's inventions are the special bracing (X‑bracing), the neck join at the 14th fret and popular body shapes such as the dreadnought guitar.
