The HD-35 is one of Martin's best-kept secrets. It is based on the legendary D-35 with a three-piece back, an ebony fretboard with binding and the classic herringbone pattern in the body binding. This rare instrument received a well-deserved overhaul in 2018, which included scalloped top X-bracing for improved tone and a modified slim tapered oval neck profile that narrows towards the nut for ultimate playability. The HD-35 combines a spruce top with back and sides of East Indian rosewood, producing a clear sound with powerful lows and shimmering trebles typical of a Martin rosewood dreadnought.
