The X Series is built to play. The acoustic-electric GPC-X2E features a hand-rubbed, satin top and striking HPL patterns for the back and sides — Cocobolo with a spruce top or Ziricote with a sapele top — for added durability and visual appeal without sacrificing the classic Martin sound. Playability improvements include a thinner fretboard with a gently rounded comfort edge and refined string spacing, as well as a modernised bridge contour for a smooth and comfortable playing experience. The Grand Performance body size delivers a punchy, balanced tone with extra low end, and a cutaway provides easier access to the upper frets. The GPC-X2E also features an elegant abalone-pattern rosette, a neck, fretboard and bridge made from select hardwood, plus Martin E-1 electronics with a built-in chromatic tuner and volume, tone and phase controls, allowing you to play at any volume. All models in the X Series ship with a softshell case.

Among the company's inventions are the special bracing (X‑bracing), the neck join at the 14th fret and popular body shapes such as the dreadnought guitar.
