Tony Iommi is considered one of the ancestors of Heavy Metal. As a guitarist with Black Sabbath he created a variety of unique Heavy riffs in conjunction with his characteristic guitar sound. The basic ingredients for the typical Tony Iommi sound are an SG, a Laney Supergroup stack and a strange boost pedal. This booster was based on the then-hip Dallas Arbiter Range Master, modified by one of Tony's buddies. The booster is responsible for the unique, grumbly guitar sound of Black Sabbath. Unfortunately the original pedal was lost, a not too clever roadie threw the pedal on the rubbish!!! Black Country Custom, Laney Amps' custom shop, has resurrected the classic Laney Supergroup Amp as a hand-wired replica of the original. To reproduce the Tony Iommi sound 100%, the magic boost pedal had to be reconstructed: the result is the Lany TI booster. The pedal, which is meticulously hand made, has received some modern updates: the gain range has been extended, the center lift can be switched over and the treble and bass can be adjusted.
