Bang for the buck

Bass bubble on 04.07.2020

Cheap cab with a big sound. I use two of them coupled with a Ampeg pf 500. Fits nicely in the trunk of my car (Nissan hatchback). Only downside I can think of is that there is only one handle and you can't switch off the tweeter. Cab is made of chipboard but seems well put thogether, time will tell if it will last. Not super light but still manageable. Great feature is that you can stack them on the small side taking less floor space. Great product.

Great cab - Great price - Great service!

Brandon on 03.07.2020

Recently purchased this bass cab after having looked around for quite a while for a similar product. Having never bought from MP before, I was a little apprehensive of how the transaction would proceed but I needn't have worried. Everything was absolutely 'spot-on.' Very easy transaction, good communications and the cab arrived early! Would definitely consider using MP again. Thanks guys.

As I said before...

As I think I mentioned in my last review of this particular product, I ended up buying two 2×10" 300W Amp-210s, which would not have been the case had they delivered the actual product that had been ordered by myself and as advertised on their web site. Seriously, look closely at the product is images. This is not a 250W (RMS) Amp 210T as advertised; instead it's a 300W (RMS) Amp-210. And, if I might say, very nice they are too; having bought two already.

It's actually better than you think!

RJI777 on 22.02.2020

Recently, I have been in the very fortunate position of being able to amass a large quantity of different bass cabinets, from which I will select those which match my amplification and basses, and sell those which are surplus to requirements. As part of this process, I ordered an Ashdown Amp 210T, as I had a requirement for a 2×10", 8-Ohm, 250W (RMS) bass cabinet (but just one, and it had to be rated at 250W). However, although I only needed one of these, I ended up buying two, which you may find a little strange; and, if so, you'd be right. You see, all of the documentation on the website refers to an Amp 210T, but if you look closely at the speaker connection panel on the back of the cab, you'll see that it is actually an Amp-210; which, much to my surprise, was the item that was delivered to me. As it turns out, the Amp-210, is a 2×10", 8-Ohm cab, but it's rated at 300W (RMS), not 250W (RMS); which is good news, right? Well, yes, it is; but if, like myself, you take your cabinet matching very seriously, not getting exactly what you ordered can be a tad troublesome. That said, it was easily rectified; as above, I just bought another one. Simples, right? Well, it worked for me, because the two cabs combine to make 600W (RMS) @ 4-Ohms (in parallel) and sound great with my Hartke TX600. Strange how things sometimes work out, don't you think?

Now that's a little strange...

RJI777 on 30.01.2020

I have to admit that I didn't realise this immediately; but, this little bass cab might not be exactly what you think it is. Don't get me wrong, I really like my AMP 210T; so much so that I ordered another one. However, this was on the condition that they sent me a model which was identical to the cab I had just bought.

Sounds a bit crazy, right? Well, you see, there's one little detail regarding the AMP 210T that I didn't pick up my on until I was wiring the cab up via its speaker connection panel. Simply put, it's not an AMP 210T; it's an AMP-210; which, your cab might be too.

Anyhow, having noticed this on the cab itself, I checked the electronic paperwork for my order and the text on the website: I had definitely ordered an AMP 210T. However, if you look at the product's second image on the website i.e., the back of the cab, and zoom in on the speaker connection panel, you'll get where I'm coming from. The image is clearly an AMP-210 and, although it's also rated as an 8-Ohm cab, the 210 can handle 300W (RMS), whereas the 210T is limited to 250W (RMS).

This, I suppose, is good news; but that depends upon how seriously you take the process of matching your cabinets to your amp. I expected a 250W cab but received a 300W model instead. Does this matter?: It can do (in a number of ways) and, although I'd like to be more specific, I have never found this kind of information in any manual.

All I can really attest to is that I have encountered instances where a cabinet produces no bass sound (just a hiss) when connected to an incompatible amp. I found out by accident; trial and error, if you like; but, in addition to being undocumented, this phenomenon is not consistent across all amp/cab configurations. That I do know.

Do I expect problems in this particular case? Not really; but then again, I did purchase another one, to make absolutely sure.

That's it for now though. I have three bass rigs wired for testing, so for now I'm actually quite happy. The cab looks great, there's another one on its way, so happy days. However, if things take a turn for the worse, watch this space for all the gory details.

Sounds good as a complement to my 15 inch ampeg cab. Blends well. Greta value for money. A bit on the heavy side.
