Suzuki Shinobix Harmonica Silencer SNB-20CVS

Product information "Suzuki Shinobix Harmonica Silencer SNB-20CVS"

The Silencer Sound System from Suzuki!

The name Shinobix is derived from the Japanese word "Shinobu". This means stealth, or in German as much as "die Heimlichkeit. "Thus the name describes the function of this little add-on for harmonica. The Shinobix is a damper for diatonic harmonicas, which can reduce the volume by up to 20% without affecting the playability. This unique accessory consists of a cover plate set that replaces the normal sound covers and directs the sound into the muffler, which uses individual spiral structures for each of the 10 tone holes, thus achieving the volume reduction. In this way the sound level can be effectively reduced by approx. 15-20 dB. The Shinobix Harmonica Silencer SNB-20CVS is the silencer with cover plates and additional screws to attach the silencer to your own diatonic Suzuki harmonica.

There is no harmonica included.

Chugging hard

This silencer makes playing needs a bit more effort, but I can now play without blocking the back of the harmonica to mute the sound (about the same amount of muting).

Kinda does what it's supposed to do

I've read the opinions that the technique of playing is the same as without a silencer. This is not true- it's way harder to breath (this is fine as after playing with silencer for a while it got way easier for me to play without one). Unfortunatelly bendings are also way harder to produce- even after working on a technique for a while I still can't make a proper third bend on a third channel. But hey, at least I can do some of my practice without pissing out my neighbours. About the quality- it basically is a way overpriced piece of plastic. Cover plates mounts looks especially fragile- you better don't drop this device because likely you're gonna have to buy a new one. Verdict- as there's no competition and that's just Suzuki's first product of this sort I still recommend buying it.
