Acoustic snare and toms as digital pads for powerful hybrid performances

If your acoustic drums are no longer up to the complex demands of your live gigs, the RT-MicS marks your entry into a whole new world of hybrid sounds. If the prospect of a hybrid setup has put you off until now, you can now sit back and relax. The RT-MicS can be quickly and easily integrated into your acoustic kit without any extra gear and transforms your snare and toms into versatile digital pads. The RT-MicS comes with eight pre-installed sounds - from handclap to different snare variations - which you can familiarise yourself with in just a few minutes. However, as an ambitious drummer, this is only the starting point: You can import your own sample sounds from your computer via USB, use the RT-MicS trigger's built-in microphone to capture and edit the sound of your acoustic snare and toms, or mix acoustic and digital sounds for your unique signature sound. Whatever you want to do, the RT-MicS is the fastest way to dive into the exciting possibilities of hybrid drumming.

Layering acoustic and digital sounds for snare and toms

Nobody wants to sound like every other drummer. With the RT-MicS, you can easily layer snare and tom sounds and create your own individual sound. Triggering the eight pre-installed sounds is child's play - simply strike the instrument with the mounted RT-MicS and the selected sound is heard immediately. However, layering sounds is where it gets really interesting. This way you can trigger a sample-based sound with a single strike and combine it with the original acoustic sound. In this way, you can expand your snare by mixing the familiar acoustic punch with any snare sound from the RT-MicS. Or you can overlay your snare sound with a tambourine for soulful backbeat performances.

Customised sample sounds for memorable performances

If you can't get an absolutely killer drum sound out of your head, the RT-MicS is the quickest way to incorporate it into your performance. First, download the free RT-MicS Sender software to transfer your original sample data to the device. Next, you can import up to eight sounds (each with a maximum length of ten seconds) into the RT-MicS via USB and then give free rein to your creativity. You can also mix your acoustic snare and toms with sound effects or layer them with instruments that you can't normally take to gigs, such as a gong or timpani. Alternatively, to save valuable time, you can import tambourine or shaker sounds (without additional microphones) and trigger them via your drum instruments. For even more flexibility, you can set the RT-MicS transmitter software so that imported sounds are only triggered via rim shots.

Personalised snare and tom sounds via the integrated microphone

Imagine if you could take the familiar basic sound of your favourite snare and toms to a whole new level. The RT-MicS allows you to do just that, by removing the triggers from the frame of your acoustic drum instruments and recording their sound (without additional equipment) via the integrated microphone. Once you've captured the original acoustic sound, you can dive deep into the processing capabilities of the RT-MicS and personalise the raw sound or further shape it with external effects such as delay and compressor. Within minutes, you'll have created a unique drum sound that stands out from the rest.

Stress-free live performances with flexible outputs

As a live drummer, you need flexible gear that adapts to a wide range of conditions. With the RT-MicS and its flexible output options, you can meet these challenges anywhere and at any time. You can play the electronic sound and the miked acoustic snare/tom sound separately or combine the two for the ideal mix. To achieve the perfect balance, you can adjust both volume levels separately during your performance. You can also mute the electronic sound at the touch of a button using the large Tone Select button.

Quick set-up, simple operation, powerful performance

Some players are sceptical about hybrid drumming. They find it unfamiliar and are afraid of complicated setups in the run-up to concerts. The RT-MicS represents a simple and intuitive introduction to this fascinating world. Attaching the trigger units to the frame of your snare or toms couldn't be easier. You don't need any additional tools. Then simply adjust the sensitivity and response thresholds using the precise threshold knob. The quick set-up means you won't miss a beat, even if you arrive late at the venue. Plus, you can easily take your groundbreaking hybrid sounds out on the road thanks to the optional battery operation.

About Roland

Roland was founded as a manufacturer of various musical instruments and studio equipment on 18 April 1972 in Osaka, Japan. Among the earliest products to reach the market were the first rhythm machines of the TR series, whose successors TR-808, TB-303 and TR-909 had a decisive influence on the techno, electro and hip-hop scenes. In the mid-1970s the JC-120 Jazz Chorus guitar amplifier was developed, whose ultra-clear sound together with the built-in chorus effect won over both Andy Summers of The Police and Kirk Hammett and James Hetfield of Metallica. Since then and to this day Roland have continuously expanded their catalogue across a wide range of fields such as digital pianos, grooveboxes, e-drums and synthesizers with high-quality and interesting products.
