Der MXR M87 ist ein Kompressor von hoher Qualität. Das gilt sowohl für die Verarbeitung und materialwahl als auch für den Klang. Letzterer ist sehr neutral,ohne nennenswerte Färbung des eingangssignals. Der attack ist von schnell bis sehr schnell und auch bei extremen Einstellungen gibt es kein dip&swell so dass er einen guten Job als peak limiter macht. durch die led leiste lässt er sich sehr einfach einstellen, was gerade Neulingen im Bereich Kompression sehr entgegen kommt. Selbst mit niedrigem threshold und viel makeup gain gibt es keine Nebengeräusche. Zwei Mini Kritikpunkte: Der threshold sollte mit spitzen Flingern eingestellt werden, hier ist auf zwei Millimetern von ganz auf bis ganz zu geregelt. Der Poti ist dabei aber angenehm schwergängig und entsprechend exakt einstellbar. Der Fußtaster ist sehr weit vorne, so dass man auf engen Pedalboards mit der Fußspitze agieren muß. Das Reicht
