About Hamstead
Hamstead is a maker of high-quality, hand-built guitar amps from South Cambridgeshire in the UK. The company began as a collaboration between guitarist Jim Bird and electronics engineer Jim Hamstead when they set out to reproduce an old amplifier. The result was the Hamstead Artist, designed for maximum tonal flexibility—whether clean or overdriven—and which also shines when used with effect pedals. The Artist is available in 20 and 60 watt versions, as a combo and as a head. A matching speaker cabinet is also offered for the latter. Besides amplifiers, Hamstead also builds beautifully sounding, high-quality effects pedals, from preamps and overdrives to tremolos.
