The EHX Spruce Goose Overdrive is a blues breaker-style overdrive effect that provides a smooth, rich distortion with clarity and dynamics. It features a LIFT switch that accesses 3 input gain settings. This allows for a wide range of tonal possibilities, from powerful boosts to singing lead sounds. The effect is based on a natural overdrive circuit with amp-like response behaviour. The LIFT switch provides additional input gain for a compressed, saturated tone while maintaining dynamics. The GAIN and VOL controls allow fine-tuning of drive and output level, while the EQ with TREBLE and active BASS provides useful tone adjustments. In addition, the Spruce Goose offers mechanical relay true bypass switching with latching and momentary functions to enable lightning-fast tone changes.

Das gute Stück konnte hier zuhause nicht mit den Sounds im EHX Video mithalten: im Low GainBereich eher spröde, in den beiden anderen irgendwie unspektakulär bis uninteressant. Vielleicht ein Overdrive für jemanden, der die Tubescreamer und die Boss SD-1 leid ist, aber doch noch keinen Distortion möchte. Aber alles Geschmackssache.
