Transport section and Focus Control support central production tasks
The transport section of SLAB is, in a sense, the heart of the music production process. It brings together key functions such as play, record and search and features a multifunction dial that enables faster browsing and searching. With the dial you can quickly scroll through sampled audio files to find the desired phrases. This significantly improves the speed and flexibility of the sampling process. One of the dial's most important functions is Focus Control, which lets you control third-party plug-ins, such as virtual instruments and effects, directly from SLAB. Simply hover the mouse cursor over a parameter on a laptop screen and control it immediately with the dial – manual MIDI mapping is not required. This enables seamless, intuitive sound design and provides immediate access to essential tools.
OLED display and touch-sensitive encoders for convenient control
The OLED display on top of SLAB provides real-time information about integration status and parameter values with exceptional clarity, even in dim studio environments. The four touch-sensitive encoders give you direct access to EQs, stems, effects and parameter controls in Serato Studio. Touch an encoder (without turning it) and the current assignments are shown on the OLED display so you can shape sounds faster and with more confidence.
Multi-colour LED pads for intuitive performance – like playing an instrument
SLAB captures every nuance of expressive performance. The 16 performance pads are highly sensitive, responsive and tactile. They offer velocity as well as aftertouch. With a single press of one of the four dedicated buttons above the pads you switch between pad modes, including a Pad FX mode in which four effect types are assigned vertically to the pads and up to four effects can be layered simultaneously. This allows you to apply effects directly during production and hear the changes in real time, expanding your expressive possibilities.
With the vertically arranged app-control area that provides quick access to functions like Auto-Set and Favorite, sampled recordings can be captured and managed easily. From chopping samples to slicing loops – the intuitive user interface speeds up production and helps you stay focused. Together, the pads and app controls form a unified layout that lets creativity flow.
LED touch strip with long travel – for clear visibility and expressive control
The 130 mm long touch strip allows control over a range of parameters such as filter, pitch, FX level and swing. The smooth, tactile response is complemented by clearly visible RGB indicators to enable precise, fast and expressive production and performance techniques.
Precise control with stems-level
When using SLAB with compatible Serato software such as Studio, Sample and DJ Pro, you can finely adjust the volume of individual parts within the same track – like vocals, melody, drums and bass – using the stems-level function. Previously you had to prepare separate tracks to change individual volumes. With SLAB's four touch-sensitive encoders this is now possible directly from the hardware. This practical control is also a groundbreaking addition for DJ performances with Serato DJ Pro, as it enables precise combinations of EQ and stem adjustments.
Seamless integration with Serato applications for diverse production setups
SLAB also supports Serato Sample and Serato DJ Pro. Thanks to its versatile MIDI mode you can use your preferred DAW while still benefiting from Serato Sample's high-quality sampling engine for a smooth production workflow. Combined with Serato DJ Pro, SLAB serves as an official Serato accessory (OSA) and expands the expressive possibilities of DJ performances. From home studios to live stages, SLAB supports creativity in a wide range of scenarios.

SLAB features a compact chassis that is smaller than an A4 sheet, so you can take it anywhere and create a comfortable studio environment at home, in a café or on the go. The two-tone grey design offers a light, modern look and the controls are arranged clearly for intuitive operation. Familiar elements such as AlphaTheta's signature round PLAY/REC buttons and the unique light bar inspired by the sample clips in Serato Studio and Serato Sample provide an intuitive and engaging user experience for both music creation and performance.
The controller is supplied with a grey USB Type-C cable that matches the chassis colour. With the included straight and L-shaped plugs cable routing stays tidy and flexible even in cramped or space-restricted setups.
