Based on their experience derived from the development of dynamic live microphone technology and studio condenser technology from the SCX series, Audix developed a condenser microphone built to withstand the rigors of live and broadcast which, at the same time, produces a sound, that nobody would have expected could be possible in this context. Delivering extraordinarily detailed, realistic sound reproduction, the condenser microphone VX10 is tailored for vocal applications as well as for miking acoustic instruments. In addition, it is capable of handling sound pressure levels of up to 138 dB and provides an excellent noise-rejection capability of >25 dB off-axis. Thanks to the technology incorporated into the VX10, it is also suitable for studio applications. It is delivered with the microphone clip MC1 and a wooden box.
MP-Rating: Audix only manufacture this one series of handheld condenser mics and they did right straight away! The VX10 is still considered as an insider’s Tipp, however, it will surely become a new standard microphone for live sound and broadcast applications soon. At our last exhibition, most people in the audience voted for the VX10 when compared with its competitors. It’s not particularly cheap, but still offers an excellent value and therefore truly deserves

What are handheld vocal microphones?Microphones that you hold in your hands while performing are considered as handheld vocal microphones. These microphones have to fulfil certain criteria. They need to offer high feedback-rejection and most of them feature cardioid, supercardioid or hypercardioid polar patterns. In addition they are required to provide a rugged construction, full bass and crispy highs. Their frequency response is usually tailored, because these microphones are designed for vocal pickup. Models featuring a pronounced proximity effect are frequently used. When choosing a mic, you should also make sure that wind and breath "pop" noise as well as handling noise are sufficiently suppressed.
