When it comes to value for money, Dingwall's Combustion series really stands out. With components and materials from North America and manufacturing in China, these instruments form an unbeatable combination. To ensure the quality Dingwall is known for, the instruments are shipped to Canada after production for final setup and inspection.
The Combustion basses feature a 2- or 3-piece swamp ash body, a 5-piece maple neck and are fitted with 2 or 3 FD-3N pickups. These pickups are produced exactly to Dingwall's specifications and, thanks to the use of neodymium magnets, deliver a high output with a smooth yet aggressive tone. The pickups are selected and adjusted via a set of rotary controls. In addition to the usual volume and treble knobs, the controls include an active 3-band EQ and an Active/Passive switch.
Nothing was left to chance with the hardware either. The Combustion series comes fitted with ultra-light tuners whose mounting bushing matches those of Gotoh and Hipshot tuners, making later upgrades much easier. The bridge is an integrated bridge/saddle system further optimised by a custom riser system.
The Combustion basses are not only available as 4-string models; there are lovingly crafted 5-string and 6-string versions as well. Customers can also choose from eight different but consistently high-quality finishes.
