This characteristic response and spatial detailing is designed for lead vocals and solo instruments, even in a dense mix. This up-front sound is also excellent for distant miking applications including classical music recording, drum ambience miking, and choir miking. The AKG C414 XL II offers nine pickup patterns to match the acoustics of every application. In addition to the five patterns traditionally offered by the C414 (omnidirectional, wide cardioid, cardioid, hypercardioid, and figure eight), the C414 XK II includes four intermediate settings that let you modify the pickup pattern to match the room acoustics. It also features a low self noise of 6 dB-A and a 152dB dynamic range, making the C414 XL II ideal for any musical environment. A locking mode disables all of the C414 XL II's controls for live-sound applications and permanent installations, and a special "Peak Hold" LED displays even shortest overload peaks. AKG ships the C414 XL II microphone complete with carrying case, pop filter, windscreen, and a spider-type shock mount.
