In addition, the 76-key Yamaha S70XS can be used to control DAW and plug-in functions on your computer. You can play back sound files right on the keyboard for excellent accompaniment possibilities. Yamaha has upgraded their popular S-series stage-piano / gigging synthesizer keyboards with the Yamaha Motif XS Music Production Synthesizer sound engine, and added easy splitting and layering to make the new 76-key fully-weighted Yamaha S70XS performance keyboard synthesizer more gig-oriented. The Yamaha S70XS keybaord synthesizer features a full length 76-note balanced hammer action keybed with a range of detailed sounds and music creation capabilities to enhance and inspire a perfect performance. The Yamaha S70 XS synthesizer is fitted with a huge 456 MB of onboard wave memory to create the most expressive, impressive and realistic sounds to-date in a professional performance synthesizer. Included with new piano sounds are samples taken from Yamahas S6 concert grand piano which fully capture the richly textured sound of that wonderfully expressive piano, and provide a warm concert grand piano sound unavailable on any other keyboard. Also included is the MOTIF XS piano based on a Yamaha CFIIIS. The Yamaha S70XS synth also comes with an audio recording and playback feature. CD-quality audio data can be recorded to the internal flash memory or to external USB memory storage devices as 16-bit 44.1kHz stereo WAV or AIFF files allowing players to capture not only what is played on the Yamaha S70XS keyboard, but also external audio sources connected to the 1/4-inch / XLR Combo jack input with front panel controls. By using the internal virtual modelling effects section it is possible to apply compression, reverb and effects to the mic input to help capture the live performance but enhanced with studio quality effects processing. In playback mode, the Yamaha S70XS can import either 16-bit 44.1kHz WAV or AIFF files and create playlists which can be triggered in sequence from the front panel or via a footswitch. There is even a full-featured vocoder onboard the Yamah S70XS performance synth. The Yamaha S70XS synthesizer also integrates with a computer, including on-board templates for editing softsynths and with hardware control of the host DAW plus a VST3 editor. This allows the Yamaha S70XS synth to appear and be controlled as VST instruments so the new synths can also become the backbone of a computer-based composition studio.
