Maxon AF-9 Auto Filter · Guitar Effect

The Maxon AF9 Auto Filter envelope filter pedal combines the best aspects of auto-wah and swept filter effects. Opto-coupler circuitry produces the filtering effects of vintage units. Threshold and peak sliders control the degree of effect while range and drive switches determine the range and direction of filter sweeps. Three selectable filter types: Lo Pass, Band Pass, and Hi Pass, plus a frequency range of 100Hz-4kHz produce staggering effects with virtually any instrument or input signal. Features true bypass, die-cast zinc case.

Envelope filters are wah-wah type sliding filters that are triggered by an input voltage. Unlike standard wah pedals whose center frequency is controlled by moving a pedal, an envelope filter's center frequency is controlled by playing dynamics, allowing for an almost unlimited variety of effects based on expressive nuances in a player's performance.

Maxon Nine
The original! Maxon, a Japanese effect device manufacturer produced not only under its own brand name but also as an OEM manufacturer for other companies. The Maxon Nine series was sold in the early 80s under the label Ibanez. Pedals such as the TS-9 were best-sellers. After moving away from Ibanez, Maxon offers its pedals again in Europe under its own brand name. The Nine series corresponds largely to the vintage Ibanez 9 series, with Maxon however, you don't have to miss out on modern features such as True Bypass.
