The new American Standards still have a semi-gloss neck-back, but the neck front is buffed in a noble high-gloss. If you compare the old necks to the new ones then it becomes quite clear that the necks of the new American Standards just look a lot better, are manufactured true to original and communicate the classical Fender feeling. The new vintage modified Strat Tremelo combines the classical Fender sound with soft modern Tremelo-action. The new riders present a classical Fender-look and sound, but have modern improvements like the string distance, optimal string slots and longer tuning screws. The original vintage-style Fender riders made of bent steel belong to those components which Vintage Fender guitars owe their DEN-sound to. They offer a wide, tonal spectrum and more “character” than other riders. So these riders were improved, made a little thinner in order to gain more space, the string-slot was optimised in order to reduce friction and string rupture, and the string angle placed behind the strings point of support. You can find them on the Stratocaster as well as on the Telecaster. The new steel-tremelo-block for the Startocaster is made out of a cupric compound which adds up to a block with more mass and more sound. The connection of steel-riders and a brass plate leads us back to the magical, tonal combination which can be found on all old Vintage Telecaster guitars. The old Vintage Telecaster guitars had a plate made of steel and brass riders, like the American Standard Telecasters have today. A new, thinner grounding gives the body a maximum of flexibility and vibration ability, however, without lacking the most important, cosmetic finish features as known from the thicker groundings. Last, but not least there is also a new sqaure case from SKB. It is easy to stack, has a TSA-lock-system (keyword: Airlines/Key), fibre glass fortified press-locks and an extremely high-quality inlay. Now a strap and accessories even fit into the case!
