dbx

Dbx is a leading manufacturer of audio products for studio and live use. The American company is owned by Harman, just like JBL, Lexicon, AKG, BSS, Digitech, Soundcraft and others. The company dbx was founded in 1971 by David Blackmer and the name arouses from the initials + experience. Since then the company is know for top level signal processing. Especially the series of compressors introduced in the 70´s has written pro audio history, the legendary series dbx 160 is globally acknowledged by many audio professionals.
Meanwhile dbx has developed many innovative products and the equalizers (dbx AFS 224, dbx IEQ-15, dbx IEQ-31 i.e.), digital controller and the compressors are a standard in touring and fixed installation. Also the dbx crossovers, from the simple dbx 223XL to the complex DriveRack series are very successful. Paul McCartney and the Rolling Stones rely on the dbx® DriveRacks. For studio use the pre amp (dbx 1086), the channel strips (dbx 376) and compressors (dbx 162 XL) are very popular. Dbx produces similar products in various qualities to serve a wider market. In the past decade dbx has paved the way for VCA innovations and registered more then 25 patents.
