ChaserA chaser is a special type of spotlight which is used in Film, Television and on stage to put someone in scene. The chaser has a powerful, narrow light beam, highlighting only the desired area, the remaining area stays dark. The name derives from the fact that this type of headlight follows or chases the actor. This can be realised by a sensor that automatically controls the spotlight or manually. Since the automated devices are not yet very reliable and sometimes inaccurate, the chaser in practice is usually operated by a person standing operating the spotlight and aligning manually. Usually the chaser would be positioned 5 to 200 meters from the area that is to be illuminated and the optimal position is front on to the person to eliminate unwanted shadows or cones. The chaser often has colour filters, which are inserted when required at the front of the lamp in order to achieve corresponding colour effects. chasers are available in different versions, the possibilities vary widely as there are smaller chasers with an output of 650 watts, but also spotlights with over 4000 watts.
