TannoyScotland has more to offer then bagpipes and old castles, Tannoy! The story starts in the year 1926 as the engineer Guy Fountain started making commercial accumulator chargers. The ones he made were made of Tantal und Lead Alloy and thus the name Tannoy was born. The development and manufacturing of loudspeakers followed soon. From 1929 Tannoy started making speakers for different applications like opera and concert address systems as well as for airports and stadiums, studio and home cinema. The Tannoy-Prestige-Range-series is a well known highlight for home entertainment systems and has made Tannoy to one of the largest high-end loudspeaker manufacturers of the world.
A range of worldwide references include:
Hong-Kong exhibition area, the Sydney Opera, the Palladium in London, the Coca-Cola headquarters (Atlanta), Hard-Rock Hotel & Casino and Bellagio in Las Vegas, the Dolce u. Gabbana headquarters in Milan and the National-Theatre in Finland. In 1947 Tannoy developed the first dual concentric loudspeakers that are in use in the studios of Decca, EMI and the BBC.
